A. C. Roy authored several books on English grammar but we are yet to collect the complete list. The most popular one was ‘Beginner’s Essay, Grammar & Translation’ (first published by (former) Saraswati Library sometime in late 1960’s, but later the copyright was sold to other publishers).
The book was widely used as a model text book of English grammar not only in the educational institutes under the then Board of Education, Comilla but also many other schools and colleges throughout the country (Bangladesh). It is noted here that although A. C. Roy was the sole author of that book, he was as usual modest to express about his role. He requested the then headmaster to be the (formal) first author and then put his name under a phrase of ‘thoroughly revised by...’. We do hope to introduce some part of that book in near future.
A. C. Roy dedicated his life to teaching his students. And the best recognition/award he received was the love and respect from all of his beloved students.
After the liberation of Bangladesh , when the war-torn country was at its cutting edge of rebuilding, A. C. Roy was recognized as the ‘Ideal Teacher’ of the city by Lions Club of Chandpur district sometime in 1976. An interview on his lifework was broadcasted by National Radio sometime that time which was encouraging to many people. He was also honored by a voluntary organization named ‘Dristi’ as one of the ‘Revered Persons in the City’.
