A. C. Roy was born in Chandpur, Bangladesh as the eldest son and third child of Harendra Kumar Roy(father) and  Kulakamini Roy(mother). He had two more brothers and four sisters.

-Student life

   1932 First division in S.S.C. (Secondary School Certificate) examination from Harina Chalitatoli Edward Istitution, Chandpur.

   1934 First Division in H.S.C.(Higher Secondary Certificate) examination from Comilla Victoria College

   1936 B.A. (honors) in History under Calcutta University and placed 2nd class.

-Works

  After graduation (in 1936), Mr. Roy planned to take admission to Master course at Calcutta University, but changed the plan when offered a teaching position at his old school (Harina Chalitatoli Edward Institution). Later he worked Algi Durgapur High School (1937) and Chandra High School (1939) for several consecutive years. In 1950, he joined D. N. High School (Daraka Nath High School) and worked there until his retirement in 1979. In 43 years teaching career, he worked as an examiner of the country's National Education Board (Dhaka Board: 1962-1971, Comilla Board: 1972-1979).

-Private life 

  He was blessed with 10 children (7 sons and 3 daughters), all of whom were well-educated.

   He liked readings books and listening to music.
